Updated August 2026: Before applying for TikTok Shop creator access, it is worth separating two things: the eligibility requirements TikTok actually publishes and the practical account improvements you can make yourself.
For TikTok Shop US Affiliate Creators, current published eligibility includes age, US location, follower requirements, policy compliance, account history and age/identity verification. A polished bio, a perfect niche or a particular number of videos is not listed as a formal approval requirement.
That does not make account quality irrelevant. A clear, compliant account is easier to build on if you are approved. But this checklist should be used as a readiness review—not a formula that guarantees acceptance.

Important: TikTok Shop rules change quickly. Use this updated article for the current August 2026 eligibility and verification guidance if the older printable differs from the information below.
What TikTok Currently Checks for US Affiliate Creators
TikTok Shop US currently says an Affiliate Creator must:
- self-apply to become a TikTok Shop creator;
- be at least 18 years old;
- be based in the United States;
- have at least 1,000 followers;
- comply with TikTok Shop policies, TikTok Community Guidelines and the Creator Code of Conduct;
- have no prior record of TikTok Shop e-commerce permissions being revoked;
- not be associated with accounts that have had e-commerce permissions revoked;
- complete the applicable age and identity-verification process.
TikTok also currently says applicants must not share the same or similar login information with TikTok Shop accounts carrying high violations.
This checklist is primarily written for the US Affiliate Creator route. Official Shop Creators and Marketing Creators have different binding and follower requirements.
For the current follower rules by creator type, see How Many Followers Do You Need for TikTok Shop Affiliate in 2026?.
1. Confirm That You Are Applying for the Right Program
Before fixing your profile, make sure you know which TikTok Shop role you actually want.
- Affiliate Creator: self-applies and can promote eligible products from participating sellers through the Product Marketplace.
- Official Shop Creator: is formally bound to a seller as that shop’s official creator account.
- Marketing Creator: is also bound to a seller but has different marketplace and follower rules.
If your goal is simply to promote other sellers’ products for commission, you are usually thinking about the Affiliate Creator route.
If you are confused about whether you need a seller account or business entity, read Do You Need a Business to Start TikTok Shop in 2026?.
2. Check the Follower Requirement—But Do Not Stop There
For TikTok Shop US, Affiliate Creators currently need at least 1,000 followers.
Reaching 1,000 followers satisfies the current follower requirement. It does not guarantee approval because TikTok still checks the other eligibility and verification requirements.
Verified Affiliate Creators below 5,000 followers currently enter TikTok Shop’s Affiliate Creator Pilot Program, which places limits on some shoppable-content features.
Keep those details in the dedicated guides: follower requirements and TikTok Shop Affiliate Creator Pilot Program: How It Works in 2026.
3. Confirm That Your Geography Actually Qualifies
TikTok Shop programs are market-specific.
The current TikTok Shop US Creator Eligibility Policy says creators covered by that policy must be based in the United States.
If you live in Australia, do not treat reaching the US follower threshold as sufficient eligibility. A company, EIN, overseas address, VPN, device configuration or similar setup does not substitute for legitimately meeting the applicable creator requirements.

4. Prepare for Age and Identity Verification
Identity readiness is more important than cosmetic profile changes.
TikTok Shop US currently requires Affiliate Creators to pass the applicable age and identity-verification process. Current guidance says creators may be asked for information including:
- full legal name;
- date of birth;
- address;
- front and back images of an accepted government-issued identity document.
TikTok says the information submitted during verification should match the creator’s valid identity document.
Before applying, check that you can access your valid ID and that the personal details you intend to submit are accurate and consistent. Do not rely on somebody else’s identity, mismatched details or an account verified to another person.
TikTok’s current rules ultimately determine whether verification passes. You can prepare accurate documents; you cannot self-certify approval.
5. Review Your Account Standing and Policy History
Current eligibility is not based on follower count alone.
TikTok’s current US policy says creators must comply with TikTok Shop policies, Community Guidelines and the Creator Code of Conduct, and must not have a prior record of revoked e-commerce permissions or prohibited account associations.
Before applying, review any account notices, restrictions or unresolved policy problems you can see. If TikTok has already flagged content, read the actual notice rather than guessing about what happened.
For the policy overview, see What Are TikTok Shop Violations? A Creator Guide for 2026.
6. Check Creator Health Rating If Your Account Already Has One
Creator Health Rating (CHR) is TikTok Shop’s creator account-health score, currently measured from 0 to 1,000.
A brand-new first-time applicant may not yet have a meaningful TikTok Shop CHR history because CHR is part of the TikTok Shop creator account-health system. But if you already have creator access, are reapplying, have previously used Shop features or can see CHR in Creator Center, review it before moving forward.
Look at the score, violation history and recommended actions rather than relying on memory.
For the current score ranges and milestone rules, see What Is Creator Health Rating on TikTok Shop? 2026 Guide.
7. Review Existing Content for Obvious Policy Risks
You do not need to delete ordinary old videos just because they are unrelated to TikTok Shop.
But if you can see content that clearly creates policy risk, review it before applying or expanding into commerce.
Examples worth checking include:
- content already carrying unresolved TikTok or Shop violations;
- misleading or exaggerated product claims;
- medical or weight-management claims that may conflict with current policy;
- counterfeit, knockoff or questionable branded-product promotion;
- copyright or trademark problems;
- fake engagement or other attempts to manipulate platform features;
- repeatedly reposted or unoriginal commercial content.
Do not assume that deleting a video erases historical enforcement or guarantees approval. The goal is to understand and correct avoidable compliance problems, not to hide account history.
8. Make Sure Your Account Information Is Consistent
Consistency matters most where TikTok actually verifies identity and account relationships.
Before applying:
- use your own legitimate account;
- make sure the personal information you submit is accurate;
- make sure verification details match your valid identity documents;
- avoid accounts verified under somebody else’s identity;
- review whether your account has problematic links to accounts with revoked or high-risk e-commerce histories.
This is different from cosmetic profile consistency. TikTok’s published eligibility policy does not say your bio must contain particular keywords or that your username must match a niche.
9. Clean Up the Profile for Humans—Not as an Approval Hack
A complete profile can still be useful because people who discover your content may visit it.
As a practical review, check:
- profile photo;
- username and display name;
- bio;
- pinned videos, if you use them;
- whether recent content gives a viewer a reasonable idea of what the account is about.
But treat this as audience and content housekeeping. TikTok does not publish “perfect bio,” “clear niche,” “10–20 videos,” or a particular engagement rate as standard US Affiliate Creator eligibility requirements.
10. Check Whether Your Recent Content Is Ready for Commerce
Approval is only useful if you can create compliant product content afterwards.
Review whether you can consistently create original, understandable content that could naturally incorporate products without misleading claims or forced promotions.
This is a practical readiness question—not an official minimum-video requirement.
You do not need to “warm” an account for a magic number of days, post at a secret frequency or hit a particular view count before TikTok will consider you. TikTok’s published creator eligibility requirements do not establish those rules.
11. Know What You Can Fix and What TikTok Decides
You can control:
- whether the information you provide is accurate;
- whether your ID is valid and ready;
- whether you have reached the published follower requirement;
- whether you review visible violations and account-health issues;
- whether your content follows current policies;
- whether your profile and content make sense to viewers.
You cannot control:
- whether TikTok’s verification systems accept your application;
- the outcome of TikTok’s platform-security or compliance checks;
- whether TikTok identifies an account association or history that affects eligibility;
- future policy changes.
Completing this checklist therefore improves your preparation. It does not guarantee approval.
Final TikTok Shop Pre-Application Readiness Checklist
Use this as the final pass/fail review before applying as a US Affiliate Creator.
- PASS / FIX: I am at least 18.
- PASS / FIX: I legitimately meet the US location requirement for the program I am applying to.
- PASS / FIX: I have at least 1,000 followers for the US Affiliate Creator route.
- PASS / FIX: I understand that fewer than 5,000 followers can place me into the Affiliate Creator Pilot after verification.
- PASS / FIX: My legal name, date of birth and address information are accurate.
- PASS / FIX: I have valid identity documentation available for TikTok’s verification process.
- PASS / FIX: I am not relying on another person’s identity or an account verified to somebody else.
- PASS / FIX: I have reviewed visible warnings, violations and restrictions on the account.
- PASS / FIX: If CHR is available to me, I have reviewed my current score and violation history.
- PASS / FIX: I have checked recent commercial/product content for obvious policy problems.
- PASS / FIX: My profile information is complete enough for real viewers to understand the account.
- PASS / FIX: I can create original, compliant product content if access is granted.
- PASS / FIX: I understand that this checklist does not guarantee approval.
What If You Fail One of the Checks?
Separate a hard eligibility problem from a practical improvement.
If you do not meet a published eligibility requirement—such as age, location or the Affiliate Creator follower threshold—profile optimisation does not substitute for it.
If the issue is practical—such as an unclear bio, weak product-content preparation or poor account organisation—you can improve that before applying without pretending it is an official approval criterion.
If the account has a genuine policy issue, start with the exact violation or account notice. The account review itself should never become an excuse to guess at TikTok enforcement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does completing this checklist guarantee TikTok Shop approval?
No. TikTok makes the eligibility, verification and platform-security decisions. This checklist helps you identify issues you can address before applying.
Do I need a certain number of videos before applying?
TikTok’s current US Affiliate Creator eligibility guidance does not publish a standard minimum number of existing videos. Having useful, policy-compliant content is practical preparation, but do not treat “10 videos,” “20 videos” or another number as an official rule unless TikTok publishes one for your program.
Do I need to warm up my TikTok account?
TikTok’s current published US Affiliate Creator eligibility rules do not specify a mandatory account-warming period or secret posting schedule. Focus on legitimate eligibility, accurate verification information and compliant content.
Should I check Creator Health Rating before applying?
If your account already has access to CHR, yes. Review the score and violation history. A first-time applicant may not yet have a meaningful TikTok Shop CHR record because CHR belongs to the Shop creator account-health system.
Can Australians use this checklist for TikTok Shop USA?
You can use the general account-review principles, but the current US Creator Eligibility Policy says creators covered by it must be based in the United States. See the dedicated Australia/US eligibility guide before treating US application requirements as available to you.
Bottom Line
A useful TikTok Shop account review starts with the requirements TikTok actually publishes: age, geography, follower eligibility, policy standing and verification readiness.
Then review the practical things you control: profile clarity, account organisation and whether your existing content is compliant and suitable for product promotion.
Do not confuse practical improvements with guaranteed approval factors. A clean profile cannot override an eligibility problem, and no checklist can guarantee TikTok’s verification decision.
